Pastor Greg Marshall
Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age."
Matthew 28:19-20 (NLT)
HOME BASE (EVANGELISM)
A healthy Christian is one who is reproducing themselves in this world locally and globally.
So home base is designed to get kids doing just that.
GOALS: EVANGELISM & MISSIONS
Sharing Christ with others,
giving & supporting missions
PROGRAMS:
1. "Change the World" giving program
2. Annual P.E.A.C.E. Gathering
3. Summer Spectacular Offering Contest
4. Monthly Missionary Visit
5. Class Wars
6. G.R.O.W.I.N.G. Booklets

Based on these two passages, we can identify five purposes for our life and for the church:
1. baptizing them: Fellowship (baptism is required in joining the church)
2. Go and make disciples: Evangelism
3. teach...to obey: Discipleship
4. Love the Lord your God: Worship
5. Love your neighbor: Ministry
These are the words that our adults use for the purposes, but we have chosen more kids friendly words:
| Evangelism | SHARE |
| Fellowship | TEAM |
| Discipleship | ADVANCE |
| Ministry | RECOGNIZE |
| Worship | SURRENDER |
Using these five words, our purpose statement says:
We exist to SHARE Christ with the kids of our community,
TEAM them with other Christians, and ADVANCE them in their spiritual walk,
helping them RECOGNIZE their spiritual gifts, and SURRENDER their lives to God
That is our goal, but how do we practically get these five purposes into the lives of kids?
How do we measure where kids are at? Where they need to go? What they need to do?
For this purpose, we have put the goals onto a baseball diamond. Our goal is to move kids around the bases until they get to home plate. Let's look at each of of the bases in order:
THIRD BASE (RECOGNIZE)
Once a runner moves to second base, they are in scoring position, but there is a major step before heading home -- getting to third base! This step involves a commitment from kids to minister within and without the church.
GOALS: MINISTRY
Service
PROGRAMS:
1. Ministry Teams (vary with leadership & interest)
a. Drama
b. Praise team
c. Greeters
d. Tech Ministry
e. Puppet Team
2. Service Events

c. Dinner at the New Castle / Youngstown Missions
SECOND BASE (ADVANCE)
Just as in baseball, a runner must advance in order to score. It is the same with spiritual growth. In the second step, we want to help kids move forward in their spiritual growth.
GOALS: MATURITY
Knowledge, growth, and fellowship in Huddles
PROGRAMS:
1. Huddles (small groups)
2. Growth Weekends
3. G.R.O.W.I.N.G. Booklets

FIRST BASE (TEAM)
In order to score in baseball, a runner must get to first base before anything else.
At NLBC, first base represents a relationship with Jesus Christ.

PITCHER'S MOUND (WORSHIP)
Unlike baseball, there is an extra step in the spiritual growth process - the pitcher's mound. It represents a life centered around Christ. It is our ultimate goal in the lives of the children we minister to.
GOALS: WORSHIP
A life of worship in and out of church
PROGRAMS:
1. Sunday Mornings
2. Praise Team
3. Wednesday Nights
4. G.R.O.W.I.N.G. Booklets
Jesus replied, " `You must love the Lord your God
with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.'
This is the first and greatest commandment.
A second is equally important: `Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the other commandments and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments."
Matthew 22:37-40 (NLT)
